Journalism was first started by an Englishman named Hickey. He first started a newspaper named The Bengal Gazette on 29 January 1780, but due to badmouthing of the British, it was closed after 2 years i.e. in 1782. This was the first newspaper in Indian history. Even today, the same thing happens that if you say anything against the government, people come to isolate you. So now let us understand how you can become a successful journalist in today’s world.
Qualification for journalism
Look, there is formal education for journalism in India. What is called journalism is a course that can be done after 12th, but it is not necessary that you have to do this course to enter journalism.
Basic needs skill for journalism

Government Recognition Press Recognition
At one time print media was spread all over India, but now the era of digital media has come, people buy mic and mic ID online and sleep thinking that I have become a journalist, the government is also fed up with these people, so the Government of India gets them recognized under PIB i.e. Press Information Bureau. Press Information Bureau provides Press Act license to free print media and electronic media.
How to get Press Act license
Now let’s talk about the criteria to get recognition from Press Information Bureau.
- Domain Registration- First of all, you have to create a website with the same name as the channel from which the news will be, don’t worry, I have told you many times on this YouTube channel how to create a website for free.
- Content update- It is the government rule that every news website will update at least 6 times a day otherwise it will be a violation of PIB rules News Act.
- Police verification- Police verification also plays an important role, however a little more has been given here, here apart from the news channel, you can also give police verification of your name.
- Experience- Experience also matters a lot to get recognition, since the Government of India has made a rule that at least you must have a 6-month training in any field of journalism to get the Press Act license.
So friends, here is the complete information to start a press, if you have fulfilled all the criteria mentioned earlier, then you can apply by visiting the official website of PIB, the link to apply is given here
